Cultural sensitivity is so important. Black lives matter is important. As a music therapy team we've started our internal work to evaluate the songs we use in our repertoire to ensure they are culturally appropriate. It's a big task and in conducting our search, Lauren McDougle (music therapist) put this excellent resource together. I share this content on our social pages to raise community awareness of historical songs and their origins so that we can join together as a collective in advocating for true inclusion, equality and equal treatment.  We can’t change the past, but we can heavily influence the future.  Thank you for taking the time to read this document.

Music therapy is an allied health profession where music is used intentionally and holistically to enhance

health, functioning and well-being. Our programs are person-centred in design and use live music making and improvisational music therapy techniques. Our music therapists are professionally registered with the Australian Music Therapy Association and are focused on strengthening abilities and enhancing an individual’s day-to-day life through music. We are a NDIS registered provider.
