What Is

Music Therapy

For children and adults with disabilities, music therapy sessions utilise music in a fun and interactive way to support an individual’s non-musical goals. Commonly, people come to music therapy seeking support with their social connection to others, communication skills, emotional wellbeing or their cognitive capacity.

As our therapy programs are music based, there are also opportunities to develop musical skill, harness creative thinking and develop your own ways of using music on a daily basis to enhance your everyday life.

Hey Music Thanks for the Therapy

Our music therapy sessions are person-centred meaning that they are specially designed to meet individual preferences and support their life goals. A blend of known and improvisational (created in the moment) music is used and the musical interventions may include a mix of instrumental play, singing, music and movement, the use of interactive technology or songwriting.

Sessions range from 30 minutes to 1 hour in duration and caregivers are very welcome to observe the sessions or take part in the music making. The music therapy programs are always evaluated to ensure they are meeting an individual’s established goals and progress updates are provided either through reports or recordings.
