Registered Music Therapist
Amelia holds a Masters of Creative Music Therapy from Western Sydney University and has a professional background in film & TV composition. Amelia has experience working with a range of age groups in mental health, disability and primary education. She is especially interested in music therapy for people of diverse cultural backgrounds.
Amelia’s creative music therapy approaches include improvisation, composition and pre-selected repertoire to harness individual strengths and enhance ability. Amelia has undergone specialist training to facilitate drum circles, as well as level 1 Guided Imagery and Music (GIM), a psychodynamic and multimodal therapy that incorporates music listening in a deeply relaxed state to stimulate imagery and feelings.
Professionally trained as a vocalist, Amelia also plays the piano, guitar, and a 21-string Chinese instrument called Guzheng.
